In fact, I typed up this section of this article in a Doc while the meeting was running. It even did a good job of running without problems when I had web pages or a Google Doc opened beside it. Participants could raise their hands, and the Acer 315 could mute, unmute, etc. Other than missing features, the meeting performed ok. The app also can’t clear all hands or reactions at the same time. Hopefully Android tablets and phones are split soon, which would mean your Chromebook would get access to 9 person gallery as well if you use this app. On the iPad, I can see up to 9 participants in the gallery view. If you have any more connections, you have to swipe to see them.
Using the Zoom app means you’ll only be able to see up to 4 devices per page. While Zoom differentiates between iOS and iPadOS, one problem that plagues all Chromebooks/Android tablets is the lack of a proper gallery view. For instance, I can’t use virtual backgrounds even though it’s possible to do so on the Galaxy Tab S7+ running Android Zoom. Some features seem to be blocked on this low-end device. The app works pretty well and there’s a decent amount of settings available for you to experiment with. Start it up, sign in, and you’re all set. Once you’ve sideloaded it, it will be available in your launcher just like any other app.
